Yorkshire have signed Kuldeep Yadav for eight games across two formats in the summer of 2025.
Yorkshire sign Kuldeep Yadav for County Championship and One-Day Cup
Kuldeep will play five One-Day Cup matches for Yorkshire in 2026, starting with the Glamorgan clash at Neath on July 24. He will return for three of Yorkshire’s last four County Championship matches of the summer.
“I’m really pleased to be joining Yorkshire and grateful for this opportunity. It will be a real privilege to represent a Club with Yorkshire’s proud history,” said Kuldeep. “I’ve always enjoyed the challenge of playing in English conditions and after speaking with the management, I became really excited to join up with the team and I’m looking forward to making a positive contribution during my time at Headingley.”
From 18 Tests, left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep has 79 wickets at 22.35, while his 121 ODIs have fetched him 194 wickets at 27.04 and an economy of 5.07. In England, he has 19 ODI wickets at 32.33, but his last game in the format in the country was back in the 2019 World Cup. It is worth a mention that his 6-25 against England at Trent Bridge in 2018 is the only men’s ODI six-wicket haul by a spinner on English soil.
Despite that (and his excellent record), Kuldeep did not get to play in England across the five-match Test series of 2025 or the three-match ODI series of 2026.
Who are the other big names at the 2025 One-Day Cup?
Since it clashes with The Hundred, the One-Day Cup often lacks the big stars, both English and overseas. The 2026 edition, however, boasts some big names.
Apart from Kuldeep, the recently retired Ben Stokes is playing for Durham. He celebrated his return to professional cricket (he had played a friendly match in between) with a hundred against Derbyshire, who boast of Stokes’s England teammate Shoaib Bashir and Italy captain Wayne Madsen.
Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep’s former India teammate, is representing Northamptonshire, who the Australian Test opening batter Nathan McSweeney captains. New Zealand left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel and England fast bowler Josh Hull are Leicestershire teammates. South African Test wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne is at Nottinghamshire. And Jack Leach is playing for Somerset.
