England have named a 15-player squad for the first-ever women’s Test at Lord’s, to be played against India, starting July 10.
Nat Sciver-Brunt to lead England in first-ever women's Test at Lord's
Five potential debutants have been named in the England squad, which will be led by Nat Sciver-Brunt. The England captain is currently on the sidelines at the Women’s T20 World Cup due to a recurrence of an injury to her left calf, and has been ruled out of their games against Scotland and West Indies.
Emma Lamb returns to the Test squad after three years, having last featured in the 2023 Ashes Test in Nottingham. Issy Wong has also earned a recall, with her only Test appearance coming in 2022. Mady Villiers, who has played one series for England since 2021 – their second-string tour of Ireland in 2024 – has also been included in the squad.
Alice Capsey and teenage spinner Tilly Corteen-Coleman, who only made her international bow in May this year, are also potential Test debutants in the squad. Lancashire wicketkeeper-batter Ellie Threlkeld and her county teammate Grace Potts, both uncapped, have been picked as well. Tammy Beaumont, who hasn’t played for England this year, has been picked after missing out on the T20 World Cup squad.

All-rounders Freya Kemp, Dani Gibson and Charlie Dean, all part of the ongoing Women’s T20WC, have been rested as part of workload management. Sophia Dunkley, Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Bess Heath, and Ryana MacDonald-Gay, all part of England’s Test squad for the 2024-25 Ashes, also miss out on the Lord’s Test squad.
"We have selected a strong Test squad under the leadership of Nat Sciver-Brunt for what will be another historic few days at Lord's for women's cricket," ECB's managing director of women's cricket Clare Connor said while announcing the squad.
"Test cricket is a rare and wonderfully challenging experience in the women's game and I know how proud our players are to represent England in this format. For the 11 women who will get the chance to be the first to enjoy that feeling at Lord's, it will be a moment to savour."
