Qatar, ranked 23rd in men's T20Is, have featured in 77 games, winning 39 and losing 32. However, they will be facing Afghanistan for the first time: their maiden bilateral series against a Test-playing nation. They last played in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia & EAP Qualifier in Oman, winning three and losing three. From that tournament, Nepal, Oman and UAE qualified for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Afghanistan last played a T20I series against Zimbabwe, winning all three games. This year, they have played 14 games, winning seven and losing as many.
Qatar has operated as the home ground for Afghanistan in the past, with the team hosting the Netherlands for a three-match ODI series in 2022. The West End Park International Cricket Stadium will see them feature again, but this time against Qatar.
Afghanistan are yet to play a T20I at the venue, but they won all three matches against the Netherlands. It included a century from Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
Notably, Qatar will also host the Rising Stars Asia Cup later in the month, with the eight-team tournament starting from November 14.
