Rajasthan Premier League 2023, the first edition of the Twenty20 league, began on August 27, and will run until September 10. All matches will be played at the Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur.

The six teams in this edition of the RPL – Jaipur Indians, Jodhpur Sunrisers, Jaanbaaz Kota Challengers, Bhilwara Bulls, Udaipur Lakecity Warriors, and Shekhawati Soldiers Sikar – will play in a round-robin league format, until September 5.

These will be followed by the usual Qualifier 1 (on September 6, between the top two teams) and the Eliminator (on September 7, between the third- and fourth-placed sides).

On September 8, the defeated side in Qualifier 1 will clash against the winner of the Eliminator. The winners of the Qualifiers 1 and 2 will face in the final, on September 10.

Several eminent cricketers will feature in RPL 2023 – Deepak Chahar for Bhilwara, Deepak Hooda for Kota, Rahul Chahar for Jodhpur, Kamlesh Nagarkoti for Jaipur, and Mahipal Lomror and Aniket Choudhary for Sikar.

Rajasthan have a rich cricketing history, but their first peak coincided with the Bombay’s dominant run in the Ranji Trophy. They reached seven finals in 10 seasons between 1960/61 and 1969/70, and but lost to Bombay every single time. Then, in 1973/74, they lost the final to Karnataka.

The second peak came in the 21st century, when Rajasthan won their first – and only – two titles, that too in consecutive years, in 2010/11 and 2011/12.
