The 2025 Ranji Trophy kicks off on October 15. Here are the players who have switched teams ahead of the new season.

Aditya Sarwate

(Kerala to Chhattisgarh)

A key contributor as a guest player to Kerala’s runner-up finish in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, left-arm spinning all-rounder Sarwate has made a surprise move to Chhattisgarh for the 2025-26 season. Sarwate is also a two-time Ranji Trophy winner for Vidarbha. A veteran in first-class cricket, he has taken 310 wickets at 19.47 and scored 2,175 runs at 26.52.

Jitesh Sharma

(Vidarbha to Baroda)

The IPL 2025-winning Royal Challengers Bengaluru wicketkeeper was a part of Vidarbha’s runner-up finish in the latest Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, his Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign this season ended in disappointment, with Vidarbha losing all four group matches and finishing bottom of the table.

Despite making his first-class debut for Vidarbha in 2015, he has been limited to just 18 first-class appearances, scoring 661 runs at 24.48. Last season, he didn’t feature in any Ranji Trophy matches, serving as backup to captain and first-choice wicketkeeper Akshay Wadkar.

Swapnil Singh

(Uttarakhand to Tripura)

After making his Ranji Trophy debut for Baroda at just 14, Swapnil struggled to cement his place before switching to Uttarakhand. He shot to fame when RCB picked him as their primary spinner in the second half of the IPL 2024, where he played a pivotal role in their six-match winning streak that secured a playoff berth. Despite RCB retaining him using the Right-to-Match card, he went unused this season. In the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, he claimed 18 wickets in five matches, and most recently, he featured for the Chepauk Super Gillies in the 2025 TNPL, taking three wickets and scoring 85 runs in eight matches.

Saurabh Kumar

(Uttar Pradesh to Andhra Pradesh)

Another domestic veteran, left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar, boasts 324 wickets at 26.45 in first-class cricket. Despite earning a call-up to India’s Test squad during last year’s home series against England, he remained uncapped. The 2024-25 Ranji Trophy proved challenging for him, managing just 12 wickets at 74.58 as Uttar Pradesh secured only one victory in seven matches.

Prithvi Shaw

(Mumbai to Maharashtra)

Since captaining India to Under-19 World Cup glory in 2018, Prithvi Shaw has struggled to meet expectations. Disciplinary issues compounded his challenges – he was dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad last year due to poor fitness and inconsistent training. After going unsold in the IPL, Shaw signalled a resurgence with a blistering 34-ball 75 in Mumbai’s local T20 league. Now, with a new domestic team, he’ll aim to reignite his career.

Vasuki Koushik

(Karnataka to Goa)

Goa have earned promotion to the Ranji Trophy Elite Group after clinching last season’s Plate Group title. Their campaign has received a boost with the signing of 32-year-old Karnataka pacer Vasuki Koushik, who brings a wealth of experience: 93 first-class wickets at 17.38, 82 List A wickets at 16.59, and 48 T20 wickets at 21.43.

"We have signed Koushik. So far, that is the only confirmed transfer. We are exploring a few other options, but no names have been finalised yet," Goa Cricket Association secretary Shambha Desai confirmed to Cricbuzz.
