Scotland defeated Nepal to become champions in the final match of the T20I tri-series that also featured the Netherlands. Here’s how the results impacted the latest T20I team rankings.
In the final match of the tri-series on Friday (June 20), George Munsey’s 39-ball 78 powered Scotland to 193-5. In response, Nepal were bowled out for 159 in 18.5 overs. The victory gave Scotland their second win in four matches – the same as Nepal and the Netherlands – but they clinched the title due to a superior net run rate (NRR) of +0.672, compared to Nepal’s -0.291 and the Netherlands’ -0.385.
The tri-series provided crucial preparation for the Netherlands and Scotland as they gear up for the Europe Qualifier for the 2026 T20 World Cup. However, the most memorable moment perhaps came in the second match, when a thrilling tie between the Netherlands and Nepal led to a historic triple Super Over – the first such instance in T20I cricket. The Dutch held their nerve to clinch a dramatic victory.
