What is the Shpageeza Cricket League?
The Shpageeza Cricket League is a T20 cricket competition held in Afghanistan. The event aims to promote cricket throughout Afghanistan, and features some of the country’s biggest and upcoming stars.
The tournament includes five regional teams, with each team playing each other twice. This results in 20 overall group stage games, and the top two teams at the end of the double round-robin will qualify for the final on August 1.
Amo Sharks are defending their title, having beaten Band-E-Amir Dragons by 7 wickets in last year’s final.
Where will the matches be held and who is playing in the Shpageeza Cricket League?
All games will be played at The Kabul International Cricket Stadium in Kabul, Afghanistan.
There are two group games each day, kicking off at 9am and 2pm local time (4.30 and 9.30am GMT), beginning with Amo Sharks vs Boost Defenders on July 19. The final will take place on Friday August 1 at 12pm local time (7.30am GMT).
The five teams set to battle it out are Amo Sharks, Band-E-Amir Dragons, Boost Defenders, Mis Ainak Knights and Speen Ghah Tigers. The teams will feature Afghan stars such as Rashid Khan, Mohammad Shahzad, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Noor Ahmad and Fazal Haq Farooqi.
Where to watch the Shpageeza Cricket League?
The Afghanistan Cricket Board announced a three-party agreement with Chinar Media and Moby Group, in which all games will be broadcast across Afghanistan by Moby Group.
