Jishan Alam, son of former Bangladesh wicketkeeper Jahangir Alam, hit his maiden List A century on Saturday (February 28).
Lining up for Central Zone in their Bangladesh Cricket League game against the North Zone, Jishan slammed 127 runs off 93 deliveries to help his side complete a steep chase in the last over. The win took Central Zone to the final of the tournament, which would also be against North Zone, scheduled to be played on Tuesday, March 3.

North Zone, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, batted first but were pegged back early, losing their captain and Litton Das in the second over, bowled by Abu Hider. Tanzid Hasan and Towhid Hridoy stabilised the innings, adding 135 runs for the second wicket, with the former falling eight runs short of a ton.
Hridoy went on to complete his hundred, and also constructed a 102-run stand with Sabbir Rahman, who scored a quickfire 51-ball 73. North Zone eventually finished with 322-7 in 50 overs, with Abu Hider returning figures of 4-59.

In reply, Jishan Alam, opening the batting, took the attack to North Zone from the start. A quick opening stand of 47 runs ended after 5.3 overs, but that didn’t stop Jishan from going about his work. Though he lost No.3 Saif Hassan in the 15th over, Mahfijul Islam provided able support as the duo added 94 runs for the third wicket.
Jishan completed a maiden List A hundred in the process and was the third wicket to fall with Central Zone well placed at 188 in the 30th over. But Irfaan Shukkur followed him to the pavilion on the next ball, leaving the side needing 136 runs in 20 overs. But captain Mahidul Islam Ankon held one end with a run-a-ball 39, while Mosaddek Hossain hit a 26-ball 54 to take the side past the finish line in the last over.
The two sides finished atop the league table, qualifying for the final, which will be played in Mirpur on Tuesday. Jishan, meanwhile, also completed 1000 runs in List A cricket. He now has 1102 runs in the format in 39 matches, at an average of 29.78.
