Seniors return to South Africa white-ball squads

South Africa will tour Australia for three T20Is starting August 10, followed by as many ODIs from August 19. They have named squads for both formats, with several senior players returning to the side.

Aiden Markram, the player of the match in the 2025 World Test Championship final, will lead South Africa in the T20Is, while Temba Bavuma, their victorious captain, returns to lead the ODI side.

The 31-year-old spin-bowling all-rounder Prenelan Subrayen, who made his Test debut against Zimbabwe in early July, has earned his maiden call-ups in both T20Is and ODIs. Subrayen captained the Dolphins to victory in the 2025 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge Division One, where he took the second-highest number of wickets (15) at an average of 19 and an economy of 3.82.

Lhuan-dre Pretorius earns maiden ODI call-up

Teen sensation Lhuan-dre Pretorius, who struck 153 in his very first Test innings against Zimbabwe, was rewarded with a T20I debut in the ongoing Zimbabwe tri-series (which also involves New Zealand). He has now earned his maiden ODI call-up as well.

Another exciting young batter, Dewald Brevis, has also received an ODI call-up. Brevis, who scored a fifty on his Test debut in the same match as Pretorius' maiden international appearance, is also part of the T20I squad currently involved in the tri-series. While he is yet to make his ODI debut, Brevis earned his maiden call-up in the format two years ago in a home series against Australia.

Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi and Tristan Stubbs, all part of the victorious WTC final playing XI, have returned to both squads.
