The pre-auction signings of ILT20 season 5 were highlighted by the swappings of Afghanistan’s mystery spinners. Mujeeb Ur Rahman will turn up for Desert Vipers, having previously played five matches for each of Gulf Giants and Dubai Capitals. He has picked eight wickets in the tournament, having last featured in the 2023/24 season.
Noor Ahmad has found his third home in the ILT20 and he will play for the Dubai Capitals. The left-arm wrist spinner has 15 wickets in as many appearances across Sharjah Warriorz and Desert Vipers. He had a great previous season for the Vipers, picking up 11 wickets in eight matches at an average of 21.45.
Waqar Salamkheil is the last and the most experienced among the Afghanistan spinners to have swapped teams. From 21 matches for MI Emirates and 11 for Dubai Capitals, the 24-year-old has 41 wickets at 20.6. He will turn up for Sharjah Warriorz in the next edition of ILT20.
Other major pre-auction signings include Finn Allen, Marcus Stoinis, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, Adam Milne and James Vince. Allen and Stoinis will play for Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and Dubai Capitals respectively, while Miller and Klaasen will represent Gulf Giants. Milne and Vince will be Salamkheil’s teammates at the Sharjah Warriorz for the upcoming season.
