The first game of the three-match T20I series will be played on December 29, 2023, followed by the second fixture on December 31, 2023, before the two teams re-convene to play the final match on January 2, 2024. All the matches will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, maintained by the Emirates Cricket Board.

UAE are hosting Afghanistan in the shortest format for the second time this year. In February, Afghanistan started the proceedings with a win in the first T20I, owing to Karim Janat’s 53 (38) before UAE shellshocked the visitors with a comprehensive nine-wicket victory in the second T20I courtesy of Muhammad Waseem’s 91 (50). Afghanistan held their nerve in the final T20I, with Janat coming to their rescue yet again with an unbeaten blazing 56 off 22 deliveries to win the series 2-1.

As a prelude to the main series, the sides will play two 50-over practice matches on December 25 and 27. Hashmatullah Shahidi will captain Afghanistan in these warm-up fixtures, while Waseem Muhammad will lead the hosts.
