Henil Patel dismissed opener Archie Vaughan in the first over, before also getting rid of Jaydn Denly in the 11th. Rocky Flintoff and skipper Hamza Shaikha then put on 154 runs, before a breakthrough came from an unexpected source.

Opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi, well-known by now for his batting exploits, was in operation with his left-arm orthodox. Off the final ball of the 45th over, he sent down a low full toss. Shaikh drove it in the air, only to pick out Henil Patel at long-off, giving Suryavanshi his maiden wicket in Youth Test cricket.

At 14 years and 107 days, Suryavanshi is the youngest Indian to take a wicket in a Youth Test match (where records are available). This record was previously held by Manishi, who took 5-58 & 2-30 against South Africa in Thiruvananthapuram in 2019, counting a certain Marco Jansen among his victims.

The overall record remains with Pakistan's Mahmood Malik, aged 13 years and 241 days when he took 1-89 against New Zealand in 1994.
