Cameron Green seemed unhappy with Usman Tariq’s action after his dismissal in the second T20I between Australia and Pakistan on Saturday, January 31.

The all-rounder mimicked a baseball-style throw after Tariq dismissed him, potentially referring to the spinner’s action. Green was Australia’s top scorer on the night, and his dismissal ended any hopes of the visitors chasing down the total successfully.

Pakistan batted first in the decisive second T20I and, riding on captain Salman Agha’s 76, posted a challenging 198-5 on the board. The total proved too big for Australia, who lost all their wickets to spinners to succumb to a 90-run defeat, their second-biggest in T20I history.

Green, batting at No.3, looked good for his 20-ball 35 but could only slice a slow and wide delivery from the spinner, who was bowling his first over of the night, to point. His wicket reduced Australia to 76-6, leaving him visibly frustrated at Tariq’s action.

I have two elbows in my arm: Usman Tariq on his unusual action

The spinner’s action has previously come under limelight as well. During the 2024 Pakistan Super League, umpires Asif Yaqoob and Richard Illingworth reported him for a suspect bowling action to the match referee. His action was again reported by on-field umpires in PSL 2025.

However, Tariq says his unusual, baseball-style action is because he has “two elbows” in his arm. He told MYK Sports in April 2025, “My action is unique because my body dimensions are unique. My body frame is not like the common person.”

“I do have two elbows in my arm,” added Tariq. “My arm bends naturally. I have got this tested and cleared. Everyone feels I bend my arms and all that. My bent arm is a biological issue.”
