Watch: Former South Africa batter AB de Villiers pulled off a stunning relay effort in the field in the World Championship of Legends on Tuesday (July 22).
The 2025 World Championship of Legends kicked off on July 18, and has six participating teams; South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies, Australia, England and India.

Tuesday's match at Edgbaston was between South Africa and India. South Africa scored 208-6, led by de Villiers' 63 (30), studded with three fours and four sixes. All eight batters reached double figures, and hit at least one boundary. For India, Piyush Chawla (2-31) and Yusuf Pathan (2-26) stood out with the ball.

India slipped to 28-4 in their run chase, bringing Yusuf Pathan to the crease. In the eighth over of the innings, he attempted to take on leggie Imran Tahir, hitting a full delivery to the leg side.
De Villiers, fielding at long on, ran around to his right and took the catch as he was moving. Upon hitting the turf, he slid along the boundary line, lobbing the ball up acrobatically before he made contact with the cushion. Teammate Sarel Erwee was on hand to complete the relay catch, and dismiss Pathan for five.
India were 111-9 in 18.2 overs when rain washed out the game. South Africa won by 88 runs, as per the Duckworth-Lewsi-Stern calculations.
