Watch: A clip of an on-air slip up from popular county cricket commentator Mark Church has caused some amusement on social media.
Church was commentating on Surrey’s pre-season warm-up fixture against Middlesex when the gaffe occurred. Describing a leg-glance from Middlesex batsman Max Holden off the bowling of Jamie Overton, Church misspoke, saying something that sounded very much like: “Shit, leg-side, uppish, for four.”
Later that day Church clarified that he had said “chipped” before light-heartedly suggesting that this episode explained why he doesn’t commentate on golf.
