Having been put into bat after losing the toss, the Surrey Jaguars crawled to 130-5 from their 20 overs. Opener Jatinder Singh remained not out on a 57-ball 56, while Ayaan Khan hit a 15-ball 26 from No.5. Iftikhar could not do much with the bat: he fell to Carlos Brathwaite for eight off nine balls.

In response, Montreal Tigers lost Muhammad Waseem in the first over as he was cleaned up by Spencer Johnson. Chris Lynn and Srimantha Wijeyeratne then resurrected the innings before the latter was dismissed for 12 off 15.

After 11 overs, the Tigers had reached 60-2 with Lynn still at the crease. With only 71 needed off nine overs and eight wickets in hand, they seemed in control of the chase when Iftikhar bowled a game-changing over.

He knocked over his opposite number’s stumps with the first ball. Dilpreet Singh then tried to hit him out of the park, but was caught inside the circle. The double strike reduced the Tigers to 61-4, suddenly making the chase look tougher.

Iftikhar bowled two more overs and gave only three more runs, finishing his quota in a single spell with unbelievable figures of 4-0-8-2.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for the Jaguars: Andre Russell smashed a six off the last ball of the match to help the Tigers to clinch the eventual thriller.
