Watch: Ireland's Jane Maguire hit the final ball of the match for six to take her side over the line against Pakistan on Friday (August 8).

The second T20I between the two sides at Clontarf Cricket Club in Dublin began with Pakistan skipper Fatima Sana winning the toss and electing to bat.

Visiting openers Muneeba Ali and Shawaal Zulfiqar put on 62, before the latter was caught off the bowling of Cara Murray. Thereafter, quickfire knocks from Eyman Fatima (23), Natalia Pervaiz (31) and Sana (23) helped them to 168-6 in 20 overs. Murray and Lara McBride took two wickets apiece.

Ireland's chase hit an early stumbling block when Amy Hunter was run out in the third over. Orla Prendergast kept the required rate in check with 51 off 34 balls, in the company of Laura Delany (42). No.6 Rebecca Stokell scored 34 not out off 16, but ended up marooned at the non-striker's end with eight to win off five balls.

Jane Maguire wins second T20I for Ireland with first six in international cricket

Ava Canning brought it to four off two balls, before Sadia Iqbal had her stumped. With four to win off the final ball, new batter Jane Maguire hopped down the wicket and smashed the ball over Iqbal's head for six, winning the game and sealing the three-match series with one T20I to spare.

This was Maguire's first six in international cricket (to go with only two fours). She is only the fourth woman on record to strike at 600 in an international innings, after Udeshika Prabodhani (Sri Lanka), Ariera Tagilala (Fiji) and Sophie Ecclestone (England, twice). “I've never hit a six in an international game before,” Maguire said afterwards. “Not at all. So it's pretty exciting. Saw it go, and I was like, 'Jeez, never thought I could do that'.”

The series finale will take place at the same venue on Sunday, August 10.
