The Maharashtra Premier League was first organised by the state board in 2009 but was halted after the first three editions. The MPL is now being revived and is all set to be played from June 15 to June 29. The auction for the 2023 competition will be held on June 6, from 2 pm IST.
MPL 2023: Who are the six teams participating?
A total of six franchises will represent the six cities of the state during the edition. The six sides were sold for INR 57.8 crores for a period of three years. Pune, Sambhajinagar, Nashik, Kolhapur, Solapur and Ratnagiri were the six teams selected.

Each side should select a minimum of 16 players.
MPL 2023: Icon players and players registered for Maharashtra Premier League auction
Each of the six teams were allowed to sign an icon player before the auction.
The icon players are as follows:
Pune: Ruturaj Gaikwad
Nashik: Rahul Tripathi
Kolhapur: Kedar Jadhav
Sambhajinagar: Rajvardhan Hangargekar
Ratnagiri: Azim Kazi
Solapur: Vicky Ostwal
A total of 285 players will be up for grabs during the auction, with each franchise having a purse of INR 20 lakh for the event. The players have been divided into three categories, with base prices of INR 60,000, INR 40,000 and INR 30,000.
