Moeen Ali dismissed Mohammed Shami with a ripper on day four of the Test match at Headingley, as India sinked to an innings defeat.
The visitors began day four on 215-2 but collapsed against the new ball as Ollie Robinson claimed the second Test five-for of his career. At 239-6, the tail arrived and they weren’t able to hang around for too long: Moeen Ali began the clean-up with sharply-spun delivery to get rid of Shami and leave India on 254-7.
Shami, a half-centurion at Lord’s in the previous Test, received a tossed-up delivery outside off that turned to rattle the stumps, with Moeen wheeling away to celebrate what would be his only wicket in the innings. On commentary for Sky, Michael Atherton described the ball as “the kind of delivery and wicket that off-spinners dream about”.
India were eventually bundled out for 278. The series scoreline now stands at 1-1 with two Tests still left to play.
