Alzarri Joseph and his younger brother Ajharie Joseph dismissed each other in the Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association’s Super 40 final.

Alzarri Joseph and brother Ajharie celebrate in style after dismissing each other in ABCA Super40 final

Having spent the best part of the last eight months on the sidelines, nursing a back injury, Alzarri returned to competitive cricket at PSL 2026 for Quetta Gladiators. Continuing his journey back to the national side, he featured for New Winthorpes Lions in the ABCA Super 40 competition, where he came up against his younger brother, also a right-arm quick and playing for the Empire Nation, in the final on May 23.

The Joseph brothers starred for their respective sides, picking up four wickets apiece and even dismissed each other and celebrated in typical siblings’ fashion. The West Indies fast bowler came out on top eventually as his side won the game by 113 runs and the title with it.

Alzarri, who was in good batting form, having scored 73 off 35 in the last league match, batted at No.5 for the New Winthorpes Lions in the final, but lasted just six deliveries, four of which were against Ajharie. The sequence of the deliveries read 2, 4, 1, W, with the younger sibling rattling Alzarri’s stumps.

The Empire Nation were set a target of 294, but faltered in the chase and went down to 178-9 when Ajharie came out to bat. The elder Joseph immediately returned to bowl and had him caught after three back-to-back dots, winning the game for his side.

The final was originally scheduled to be played on May 17 at the Jennings Cricket Ground, but incessant rain rendered the outfield unplayable. It was then postponed by six days, and the venue changed to the Antigua Recreation Ground.
