Amir Jangoo scores second first-class double century

In the first round of the 2026 West Indies Championship, Jangoo turned out for Trinidad & Tobago against Leeward Islands at the Coolidge Cricket Ground. T&T's bowlers starred on day one, bowling Leeward out for 138; Khary Pierre (3-34) and Bryan Charles (3-9) shared six wickets.

Jangoo came to the crease on day two (April 13) with T&T 98-2 in reply, having lost Cephas Cooper and Jason Mohammed, with Evin Lewis retired hurt. That quickly became 100-3, but Jangoo made his way to 55 by tea, before accelerating to 133 by the close of play.

On the morning of day three (April 14), Jangoo made it past 150; his first 50 runs had taken 106 balls, and the next 100 had taken 128. By lunch, he moved to 198 and went past 200 soon after the break. He remained unbeaten on 203 as T&T declared at 507-5, after an unbroken 253-run stand between him and Terrance Hinds (100*).

This was Jangoo's second century in first-class cricket, and perhaps surprisingly not his highest score. His maiden ton, against Combined Campuses and Colleges in April 2024, was a knock of 218, meaning he has now converted his first two centuries into double tons. Jangoo made his international debut in 2024, in an ODI against Bangladesh; he scored a 79-ball century in that game.

After the declaration, T&T made light work of Leeward; Pierre took 4-27 as they bowled their opponents out for 98 to secure victory by an innings and 271 runs.
