According to the report, the media had been invited to attend his interaction after the third day’s play. However, Green initially made himself unavailable for interviews before later agreeing to speak under limited conditions, with the conversations restricted to two minutes and confined to questions about the match.

He answered an opening question about his innings, describing it as a positive return to form. When asked about his recent run of low scores, Green declined to respond. The journalist indicated he would end the interview if the all-rounder did not wish to engage. As he walked away, Green reportedly muttered, “Waste of time,” to which the journalist responded by referencing the time spent waiting for the interaction.

Green then returned and asked, “Why are you out to get me?” before leaving the area. Western Australia assistant coach Beau Casson intervened following the exchange.

Touted as a star for the future, Green made his Test debut against India in 2020, scoring 45 and 84 in his first two matches. He had registered two Test centuries by December 2024 but has not reached three figures in the format since January 2025, with only one fifty in his last 16 innings. During this period, he has averaged 23.93 with the bat, while injuries have limited his bowling returns to four wickets since the start of last year.

In the recent Ashes series, Green scored 171 runs at an average of 24.42, with a highest score of 45. He is set to feature in the upcoming Indian Premier League season after being bought for INR 25.20 crore by Kolkata Knight Riders.
