Zak Tribe – brother of England hopeful Asa – hit an unbeaten double-hundred in a club game over the weekend, including smashing former Northants bowler Freddie Heldreich for six sixes in one over.

Tribe scored 222* of his club Ashmanhaugh and Barton Wanderers CC's total of 429-5 declared in 60 overs against Bury St Edmunds CC first XI.

Having reached 186 at the start of the 60th over of the innings, Tribe launched an extraordinary assault on Heldreich. He pulled the first ball, a drag down from the left-arm spinner, over midwicket for six, repeating the shot with the same result off the next ball. When Heldreich switched to round the wicket for the third delivery, the result was the same, Tribe hitting down the ground this time and again over the rope. That shot saw Tribe reach 200, as he took his helmet off to acknowledge applause from his teammates.

Tribe changed tack facing Heldreich's next ball, hitting through mid off and into the trees past the long on boundary. He went back to hitting into the leg side to face the fourth ball of the over, moving back and across to swat the ball in front of square. Facing up to the final ball before the declaration, Tribe once again hit into the leg side to complete a perfect over, and finish unbeaten on 222* off 174 balls.

While it was a day to remember for Tribe, Heldreich's final over meant it was one for him to forget. Having kept a fairly clean sheet with figures of 0-50 off eight overs before his last, that final assault from Tribe left his figures reading 0-86 off nine. Heldreich left Northants at the end of last season, having made his T20 debut for the county in 2021. He took 55 wickets across 55 white-ball games during his time at the club. Last month, he played for Liege Red Lions in the Belgium EUT20.

Along with his younger brother, Tribe has represented Jersey in T20 cricket, playing 32 T20Is since his international debut in 2021. Both brothers played together in the European Regional Qualifier for the T20 World Cup last year.
