Zimbabwe and the Netherlands will play three ODIs on March 21, 23, and 25, all at the Harare Sports Club. Neither team is in contention for direct qualification for this year’s World Cup in India, and will have to play in the Qualifiers later this year.

While Zimbabwe have won four of their 21 matches (20 decided), the Netherlands have won two of their 19 (18 decided). The series will serve as excellent practice opportunity for both teams.

Led by Craig Ervine, Zimbabwe boasts of stalwarts like Sikandar Raza, Sean Williams, Ryan Burl, and Gary Ballance, while the Scott Edwards-led Dutch side includes Roelof van der Merwe, Tom Cooper, Colin Ackermann, and Paul van Meekeren.

Zimbabwe drew their last series, against Ireland at home this January. Before that, they had a decent 2022 in all, beating Bangladesh 2-1 at home and winning an ODI in Australia.

The teams have met thrice before. Zimbabwe won the first of these, in the 2003 World Cup in Bulawayo, by 99 runs, but the Netherlands beat them by seven wickets and three wickets at Deventer in 2019.

The Netherlands, on the other hand, have largely struggled since the pandemic. Their did draw 1-1 against Scotland and beat Ireland 2-1, both at home, in 2021, but have not won a single ODI since then.
