Biography
Georgia Plimmer emerged from Wellington as a highly promising right-handed batter for the future of New Zealand cricket. Her journey began at Tawa College, a school famous for producing multiple White Ferns, where she honed her skills alongside other future international stars. She made her domestic List A debut for the Wellington Blaze in the 2019 to 2020 season, quickly catching the attention of national selectors with her technique and composure at the crease. By the time she made her domestic T20 debut for Wellington the following season, she was already viewed as a player destined for the biggest stage.
Her rapid rise led to an international call-up in early 2022 when she was named as an injury replacement for the ODI World Cup squad. Later that year, she secured her first central contract and made her official international debut during the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Playing against world-class bowling attacks at a young age proved to be a valuable learning experience. She then showcased her true potential at the Under-19 T20 World Cup in 2023, where she finished as New Zealand's leading run scorer with an impressive average of over 50, firmly establishing herself as a top-order prospect for the senior team.
Transitioning to full-time international cricket, Plimmer became a regular fixture in the senior squad across both ODI and T20 formats. She was selected for the senior T20 World Cup later in 2023 and again in 2024, gaining crucial experience in high-pressure global tournaments. She went on to win the 2024 T20 World Cup with the White Ferns. Opening the batting or slotting into the top order, she began to build solid partnerships and lay foundations for the team. Her steady progress during the 2024 tours, including an ODI series in India, showed her growing maturity and readiness to take on more responsibility in the lineup.
The year 2025 marked a massive turning point in her career as she recorded her first major international milestone. In March 2025, she smashed a brilliant 112 runs against Sri Lanka to register her maiden century in ODI cricket. This breakthrough innings proved she had the temperament to build massive scores at the highest level. As the calendar turned to 2026, Plimmer remained a crucial part of the national team during the home series against Zimbabwe and South Africa. Despite facing a minor shoulder injury early in the 2026 season, she has cemented her place as a reliable top-order batter and a cornerstone of the New Zealand batting lineup for years to come.
