India were the first team to host post-apartheid era South Africa, in 1991/92, but that was a hastily arranged series featuring three ODIs and no Test match. In 1992/93, they became the first team to visit South Africa: this time there were four Tests as well as seven ODIs. On that tour, an Indian spinner took the first five-wicket haul in India-South Africa clashes, while a South African fast bowler claimed a five-for in each innings in another Test.
