In this quiz, you have to name every cricketer to have appeared in a Test match between England and Zimbabwe.
In 1992, Zimbabwe became the ninth team to play a men’s Test match, against India. Over the next decade and a bit, they played six Test matches against England. Draws at Bulawayo and Harare helped them level the first series between the sides, in 1996, but England won the next two series, both of which they hosted.
In 2000, England won by an innings at Lord’s, but Zimbabwe hit back in the rain-affected Nottingham Test. They declared 89 runs behind the hosts and bowled out the hosts for 147. Then, chasing 237, they were 25-1 when no further play was possible. In 2003, however, England won by an innings at both Lord’s and Chester-le-Street.
The two teams have not played a Test match since then. The ties will resume on May 22, 2025, when England will host Zimbabwe at Nottingham.
In 10 minutes, can you name the 55 cricketers (28 from England, 27 from Zimbabwe) who have featured in the six Tests between the sides until 2003? Remember that none of them is an active Test cricketer anymore.
