The country’s third-highest run-scorer across formats leads this list with 8,366 runs at an average of 53.28 in that position. His able successor, known for his watertight technique as well, upheld the legacy with 6,529 runs at 44.41. One of the other two batters with 1000-plus runs in this position is the current Test captain.
