In 1982, Sri Lanka became the eighth team to play men’s Test cricket. Over the past four decades and a bit, they have produced three bowlers who have taken more than 350 Test wickets. They include a bowler with 800 Test wickets, a tally that seems unlikely to be challenged by anyone in the foreseeable future.
Five others have taken a hundred Test wickets, while the total number of Sri Lankans to take 50 Test wickets stands at 27 as on May 5, 2025.
