New Zealand embark on their first Test tour since Kane Williamson stepped down as their captain – can you name everyone who played under his captaincy?
Williamson was appointed Test match captain in 2016 after Brendon McCullum’s retirement. Under his tenure, New Zealand became the number one ranked side in the world for the first time, won the first ever World Test Championship final and registered series victories over India and England. Williamson led the side on 38 occasions, winning 22 of them and finishing with a win percentage of 57.89.
He captained thirty players during his six years in charge of the side, with only 12 of them playing in more than ten Test matches. The player he most frequently captained is an explosive wicket-keeper batter who many touted to lead the side after Williamson stepped down. Instead, the leadership passed to another one of Williamson’s teammates who he captained 33 times.
