The first two cricketers to take men’s ODIs five-fors against Australia in Australia were both New Zealand seamers born on July 3: they achieved it in the 1980/81 triangular tournament that also involved India, a tournament where Trevor Chappell bowled underarm in one of the finals. The third instance (also the first by a spinner) took place in 1983/84.

Throughout the 1980s, the West Indians were the star draw in ODIs in Australia. It should not come as a surprise that several legendary fast bowlers from the Caribbean make the list. One of them claimed 5-17 and 5-26 in 1988/89, and again 5-32 in 1992/93.
