In this quiz, you have to name the players who have the highest individual scores on their men’s Test debut.
In 2025, a South African teenager became the latest entrant to the list with a 160-ball 153 against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. At 19 years 93 days, he also became the youngest from his country to score a men’s Test hundred and the 10th youngest overall. His 153 was also the 24th-highest score by a Test batter on debut.

Until March 18, 2026, 26 players have crossed the 150-run mark on men’s Test debut. These include seven players with double hundreds, the last two of which came in 2021 after an 18-year drought. The first was scored by a West Indian all-rounder, whose unbeaten 210 on a spin-friendly Chattogram pitch is the highest score by a debutant in the fourth innings of a Test. Four months later, a New Zealand opener replicated the feat with a double-century against England at Lord’s, preceding the 2021 World Test Championship final that New Zealand won.
