On July 2, 2025, Bangladesh played an ODI against Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. For the first time since September 4, 2005 – another match against Sri Lanka at Premadasa – they took field without any of Mortaza, Shakib, Tamim, Mushfiqur, and Mahmudullah in the XI.
