The early days of Test cricket feature several all-out scores in the thirties and forties. One must remember that this was in the pre-War phase, when pitches were not uniform. South Africa – new to the sport – were no match for England or Australia either, and were responsible for a few low totals. It was not until 1954/55, however, that a team was bowled out for under 30 for the first time.
