Quiz! How well do you remember the T20 Blast through the years?

This competition has been known as the Blast since 2014, but has been around since 2003 as the Twenty20 Cup, and is the oldest men's T20 competition in the world – four years before the T20 World Cup, and five years before the IPL.

The competition came into being after the ECB noticed dwindling attendances at county matches, and proposed playing a reduced form of cricket in 1998. It took five years for this to eventually come into being.

Several stars, both English and foreign, have established themselves in the competition, including some of the greats of the shortest format. It has also had its fair share of controversies, broken records and ridiculous finishes across 22 years. From 2025, the inaugural edition of the Women's T20 Blast will run parallel to the men's competition.
