Quiz! Most sixes in a single IPL season

In 18 completed seasons of the IPL, a batter has hit 35 sixes in a season on 21 occasions. Naturally, there are some repeats here; one players has done this on four occasions, and two more have done it twice. Therefore, there are only 16 unique names here.

This first time a player managed 35 sixes in a season was in 2011. The same player repeated the trick in both 2012 and 2013 – at that point, he was the only one to do so at all. He was joined in this club in 2014.

Ten of these 21 instances – almost half – have come since the 2023 IPL season, i.e. when the Impact Player rule was introduced. The record of 59 sixes though, came all the way back in 2012. There are two more instances of a player hitting 50-plus sixes in a season, in 2013 and 2019.
