An Australian bowler became the latest entrant to the 300-wicket club during the 2025 World Test Championship final against South Africa at Lord’s. He is the 40th player to reach this landmark. His average of 22.08 is also the sixth-best among bowlers with at least 300 Test wickets. One of his opponents in the WTC final is in fifth, with 21.74.

The first bowler to take 300 Test wickets was an Englishman, achieving the feat during the Ashes in 1964 at The Oval. His 307 wickets at an average of 21.57 make him the player with the third-best average among those with at least 300 Test wickets.
The record for the most Test wickets (800) belongs to a Sri Lankan spin great. He is closely followed by an Australian spin wizard (708), his contemporary. An English seamer retired last year with 704 wickets, making him the third-highest wicket-taker of all time and the highest among fast bowlers.
