The 1992 Cricket World Cup was the fifth edition of the tournament co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, and began on February 22 that year in Auckland with those two teams facing off.

This tournament marked South Africa's first appearance at the World Cup following their apartheid ban, and was also the first World Cup in which the teams wore coloured clothing, and played with a white ball and black sightscreens.

It was eventually won by Pakistan, who had four batters in the top 25 in the ICC's batting rankings on the eve of the tournament. England, who they beat in the final, had three representatives, including two in the top five. There were five players each from India and Australia as well.
