In While Roses Blow, Thomas Molt wrote how the fragrance of the rose synchronises with the myriad sounds in a cricket match: “While roses blow the cricket-field is yours./Measure their season: so your lease endures./Match with their fragrance every fruitful sound:/Tread worthily this sunlit slip of ground.”

As more and more brands began to be associated with cricket, cricketers began to endorse brands. In 2006, there were even discussions around the Indian cricket team having an “official perfume”, to be marketed in a “golden cricket ball shaped, virgin metal case imported from Prague” and targeted at “anybody with a high disposable income who is passionate about the game”. In the 2010s and 2020s, more and more cricketers have associated themselves with perfume brands.
