Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan made 273-7 as their veteran opener made an excellent hundred but no one else reached 35. An Indian legend blazed away to an outrageous start, uppercutting the fastest bowler in the world for six in the second over. However, the Pakistan captain responded with a double strike to reduce India to 53-2 – all inside six overs of the chase.

The fastest bowler had his revenge, having the Indian legend out caught, but not before the latter made 98 in 75 balls. At 177-4, the match seemed to be in the balance, but India did not lose another wicket as their vice-captain and a youngster sealed the chase in the 46th over.
