In this quiz, you have to answer ten questions about the IPL's replacement players.

Without an 'open market', IPL teams' primary method of signing new players is through the auction – either mini-auctions, which take place every year, or mega-auctions which come every three years.

Trades are allowed, but sparingly used. During the season, teams can sign players who went unsold in the auction as squad replacements, for specific reasons listed by the league, such as injury, international commitments, retirement and non-granting of NOCs by a foreign board.

Over the 18 years of the IPL, several players have come and gone in this fashion. A few have even gone on to become franchise – and league – legends, while others have exited without so much as an appearance to their name.

This season, the replacement rules have come under scrutiny from sections of fans after multiple teams have signed multiple players outside the auction – notably, Chennai Super Kings' three injury replacements have essentially rebuilt a flailing middle-order, and they have the option of retaining these players for future seasons.
