Asia Cup points table

Bangladesh completed a comfortable victory in their opening Asia Cup game against Hong Kong today (September 11): here's the updated Asia Cup 2025 points table after the BAN vs HK match.

Fielding first after winning the toss, Bangladesh put Hong Kong into bat in Abu Dhabi. Taskin Ahmed started things off for Bangladesh by having Anshuman Rath caught behind in the second over. Tanzim Hasan Sakib then bowled Babar Hayat in the fifth to reduce Hong Kong to 30-2.

Two strong partnerships got Hong Kong to 117-4 by the beginning of the 18th over. Opener Zeeshan Ali anchored the innings with a 34-ball 30 while Nizakat Khan (42 off 40) and Yasim Murtaza (28 off 19) were the other two major contributors. Hong Kong added 26 runs in the last three overs to finish on 143-7. Taskin (2-38), Sakib (2-21), and Rishad Hossain (2-31) shared the wickets. Rishad also reached 50 T20I wickets in the process, taking just one more match than what Shakib Al Hasan did (42) to reach the milestone.

Bangladesh got off to a brisk start in their run-chase thanks to Parvez Hossain Emon's cameo of 19 (14). Like Hong Kong, they lost two wickets inside the first six overs, but were better placed at 51-2 compared to 34-2.

Captain Litton Das (59 off 39) and Towhid Hridoy (35* off 36) then took Bangladesh home safely, basing their partnerhip on pushing the ball into gaps and running hard between the wickets. As they approached the target, the two right-handers started chancing their arms more. Litton was dismissed just two runs short of the target, which Bangladesh achieved with seven wickets and 14 balls remaining.
