India defeated Oman in the 2025 Asia Cup clash by 21 runs, and here’s the updated points table after the IND vs OMA clash.
Batting first, India posted a competitive 188-8 in their 20 overs. After Shubman Gill departed early for an eight-ball five, Abhishek Sharma set the tone with a brisk 38 off 15, hammering two sixes, before falling to Jiten Ramanandi. Sanju Samson anchored the innings with a 45-ball 56, while cameos from Axar Patel (26 in 13) and Harshit Rana (13 in 8) took them closer to 190 runs. The highlight was the absence of Suryakumar Yadav, who was the only Indian not to bat in the innings despite being fit to field.
In reply, Oman notched up only their first fifty-plus T20I opening stand against a Full-Member team (Afghanistan were an Associate nation in 2016), with Aamir Kaleem and Jatinder Singh contributing 56 runs in 8.3 overs. Kaleem, who also picked up 2-31 with the ball earlier, brought up his second T20I ton, while No.3 Hammad Mirza also chipped in valuable runs. The duo threatened briefly with a 93-run partnership in 9.1 overs, before a running catch from Hardik Pandya inches away from the ropes brought an end to the resistance.
During the game, Arshdeep Singh also became the first Indian to claim 100 wickets in men's T20Is. He is also the fourth-fastest to the landmark, in 64 innings.

The result of the game had little impact on the tournament, with India already sealing their place in the Super Four. They ended at the top of the table, with their Net Run Rate falling after the Oman game from +4.793 to +3.547.
Oman, on the other hand, were one of two teams to end the tournament without a win. Hong Kong, who were in Group B, also could not register a win.
The India-Oman clash also marked the end of the league stage in the Asia Cup. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will play the first Super Fours game on Saturday (September 20).
