India beat Pakistan in a nail-biting final to win the Asia Cup 2025. Here are all the live post-match updates, including the captains' reactions, awards, quotes from the post-match presentation and press conference, and everything in between.
Pakistan collapse after good start
The first-ever men's Asia Cup final between India and Pakistan saw India ask Pakistan to bat first. For the first time in the tournament, Pakistan's openers provided a fifty-run stand as Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman put on 84 runs. The partnership was broken when Varun Chakravarthy dismissed Farhan for a 38-ball 57.
Pakistan were comfortably placed at 113-1 in 12.4 overs when a dramatic slip occurred, seeing them lose nine wickets for just 33 runs. The collapse was spearheaded by Kuldeep Yadav, who picked up 4-30. Pakistan were bowled out with five balls to spare, setting India a target of 146.

India make a nervy start before Tilak Varma comes to the rescue
For the first time in the season, India’s batting looked in trouble. Abhishek Sharma, who entered the match with three consecutive fifties, couldn’t give India an explosive start this time, perishing for five off Faheem Ashraf. The next over, Shaheen Afridi removed India captain Suryakumar Yadav for one. Faheem struck again, dismissing Shubman Gill for 12, as India slipped to 20-3.
A 57-run stand between Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson instilled some stability in the Indian innings before the latter fell for 24 off 21 balls, with India needing another 70 runs from 7.4 overs. Shivam Dube then scored a vital 33 off 22 to take India closer to victory, before Varma (69 not out off 53) and Rinku Singh (4 not out off 1) finished things off.
With this result, India stretched their record Asia Cup trophy tally to nine. Pakistan have now suffered their fifth consecutive defeat to India in T20Is, with their last win coming in 2022.
The Asia Cup 2025 matches were played against the backdrop of heightened political tension between the two nations following an armed conflict in May. This tension seeped into the tournament as well, notably with India refusing to shake hands and Pakistan boycotting a press conference in retaliation. The off-field antics have been significant from both sides as well.
