UAE knock Oman out in Abu Dhabi
The UAE defeated Oman by 42 runs to eliminate the latter from Super Fours contention. Home openers Alishan Sharafu (31) and captain Muhammad Waseem (69 in 54 balls) put on 88 in 11 overs. Riding on that partnership, the hosts posted 172-5 as Jiten Ramanandi finished with 2-24.
Despite captain Jatinder Singh’s 10-ball 20 at the top, Oman were never really in the hunt as Junaid Siddique ran riot with 4-23. With Haider Ali (2-22) and Muhammad Jawadullah (2-18) also chipping in, the visitors folded for 130 in 18.4 overs. Sharafu was named the Player of the Match.
The result helped India qualify for the Super Fours as well. They will be joined by one of Pakistan and the UAE.
