Watch: After suffering a five-wicket loss in the first ODI against India, Australia bounced back well having won the toss and electing to bowl, with Mitchell Starc the chief architect of the early damage.

Starc got the Aussies off to a dream start in the opening over, removing Shubman Gill after a flashing drive only found the hands of Marnus Labuschagne at point.

Captain Rohit Sharma would soon suffer the same fate as his opening partner at the hands of Starc’s late swing in the fifth over, Steve Smith juggling at slip but ultimately holding on.

Suryakumar Yadav, who has a whirlwind 12 months in short-format cricket for India, was dismissed for a golden duck in the first ODI by Starc and arrived at the crease with his signature open stance, his side 32-2.

Starc arrived over the wicket, pitching the ball on middle, before the late swing took effect as SKY was too late to make contact – suffering his first ever pair in Indian colours.

KL Rahul kept out the hat-trick ball, just like he did in the last ODI, however there was to be no match-winning knock this time around, as Starc removed the dangerman lbw just four overs later. Hardik Pandya lost his wicket just four balls later following a stunning Steve Smith grab, leaving India 49-5 and facing an uphill battle with just 9.2 overs bowled.
