Players and officials at the second Bangladesh-Pakistan T20I on Tuesday (July 23) will be wearing black armbands. Here's why.

After losing the first match of the series comprehensively, Pakistan handed a debut to seamer Ahmed Daniyal for the second T20I. Bangladesh, on the other hand, made two changes, bringing in Shoriful Islam and Naim Sheikh in place of Tanzid Tamim and Taskin Ahmed.

Having won the toss and chosen to field first, Pakistan started well with the ball, reducing the hosts to 7-1 after the first two overs.

BAN vs PAK 2nd T20I: Why are players wearing black armbands?

Players and officials are wearing black armbands in remembrance and honour of the victims of the recent air tragedy in Dhaka. On July 21, a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet crashed into the Milestone College campus, with at least 30 people reportedly losing their lives, and leaving a further 150 injured.

Recently, India and England players had paid homage to the victims of another air tragedy, wearing black armbands on the first day of the Headingley Test to honour victims of the AI 171 crash in Ahmedabad.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board released a statement ahead of the second T20I, observing a National Mourning Day in remembrance of the victims. A minute's silence was also observed before the start of play, and no music will be played during the match.
