Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz broke a national record with a ten-wicket haul against Zimbabwe on Wednesday (April 23).
In the first Test between the sides in Sylhet, the hosts elected to bat first but were bowled out in just over two sessions, for 191. Blessing Muzarabani and Wellington Masakadza took three wickets each, and Zimbabwe were 67-0 at stumps on day one.

They eventually made it to 273, a lead of 82 runs. Bangladesh fared better in their second attempt, getting to 194-4 on day four before captain Najmul Hossain Shanto departed for 60. They crumbled thereafter, thanks mainly to Blessing Muzarabani, sliding to 255 all out to set Zimbabwe 174 to win.
Brian Bennett and Ben Curran put on 95 for the first wicket, before the latter was dismissed by off spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who went on to scalp four more wickets, meaning there was a nervy end to the eventually successful run chase.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz's third Test 10-for not enough for Bangladesh
Mehidy's 5-50 in the second innings followed a 5-52 first time around, making it the third time he has picked up 10 wickets in a match in Test cricket. He is the first player from Bangladesh to do so, overtaking Shakib Al Hasan and teammate Taijul Islam (two each) to take the national record.
The overall record remains with Sri Lanka's Muthiah Muralidaran, who took 22 10-wicket hauls. Nathan Lyon (five), Kagiso Rabada (four), Ravindra Jadeja and Rashid Khan (three each) are the other active players with three or more 10-wicket hauls.
