Tom Curran picked up his career-best T20 figures of 4-10 to skittle out Adelaide Strikers for their second-lowest Big Bash League total.
Tom Curran shines for Melbourne Stars
Playing for the Melbourne Stars, Curran got into the game right away, picking up Alex Carey’s wicket for three runs. The Strikers, put in to bat first, kept losing wickets and were struggling at 21-4 in six overs when Liam Scott tried to steady the ship.
He scored 18 in 20 balls, putting on 19 runs for the fifth wicket, but his dismissal by Curran in the tenth over started another collapse. The Strikers soon became 55-9 and were in danger of notching up their lowest BBL score, beating the score of 68 they had posted in 2021.
While they narrowly avoided the total courtesy of Cameron Boyce’s 18-ball 20 at No.9, they were still not able to cross the 100-run mark. Eventually, Adelaide were dismissed for 83 in 19.3 overs, their second-lowest BBL total in history.

Curran was the wrecker-in-chief, sending back four of the top five batters. After dismissing Carey, he also got the wickets of Chris Lynn and Jason Sangha in the powerplay, before returning to dismiss Scott. He bowled out his four overs for just 10 runs, also registering his best T20 figures in the process.
The 30-year-old, who made his T20I debut for England in 2017, played 30 matches across four years, picking up 29 wickets at 31.27. He also played 28 ODIs and two Tests, last representing the team in July 2021. However, Curran has been a regular in franchise cricket, playing 110 matches since his last international appearance. He has picked up 104 wickets at 23.25.
Curran joined the Melbourne Stars in 2024 and has played 14 T20s for them thus far.
