Against Sussex at Scarborough, Yorkshire all-rounder Matt Revis scored his third County Championship 2025 century in four innings.
After Sussex posted 222 in their first innings, Yorkshire were 250-4 when Revis came to the crease. The right-hander announced his arrival with a confident cut for four off left-arm spinner James Coles. Revis reached his fifty in 77 balls before accelerating, needing just 60 more deliveries to complete his century.
This marked his third hundred in as many consecutive matches, following scores of 150 against Essex and 110 not out against Surrey. Before that, he also hit an unbeaten 93 against Nottinghamshire. The 23-year-old continued his innings, requiring only 49 additional balls to reach his second 150 of the season. He achieved the milestone in style, driving off-spinner Jack Carson for four before finishing unbeaten on a career-best 152 (188 balls, 14 fours, 2 sixes) as Yorkshire declared at 545-9.

Since his first-class debut in 2019, this has undoubtedly been Revis’s breakout season. He has amassed 718 runs at 79.77 so far, dwarfing his previous returns. Before this summer, he had averaged over 40 just once – 487 runs at 44.27 in 2023 – while last year saw a lean patch of 96 runs at 19.20 across eight innings. Adam Lyth (115) and James Wharton (85) also played their part in Yorkshire's mammoth total, while an aggressive 93-ball 75 from No. 8 George Hill - featuring 10 fours and a six - provided valuable late-order impetus.
Among Sussex's bowlers, off-spinner Carson claimed the most wickets (3) but leaked 150 runs. Revis also contributed with the ball, dismissing the well-set Tom Alsop for 40 in the first innings - a key breakthrough that helped restrict Sussex to their modest total.
